About Kevin Thomas
Experienced Music Teacher & Composer
Kevin Thomas is a pianist and composer based in Los Angeles with over a decade of teaching experience. His passion for music began early, growing up as the youngest in a family of musicians. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Composition from California State University, Northridge, with a concentration in film scoring.
Kevin’s background spans a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, classical, and progressive rock. He has performed in various ensemble settings, from intimate jazz groups to full orchestras, and has conducted performances of his own original compositions. His creative approach integrates composition and improvisation into instrumental instruction, fostering both technical skill and artistic expression.
As an educator, Kevin’s philosophy centers on encouragement, inspiration, and meaningful challenge. He is highly attuned to each student’s unique goals and capabilities, tailoring lessons to meet their evolving needs. By identifying strengths and building confidence, he empowers students to surpass their own expectations.
Kevin has extensive experience teaching a wide range of students of all ages and skill levels, including individuals who are neurodivergent. He is committed to creating an inclusive, adaptive, and supportive learning environment.
